Lt Columbo, on insincerity
Some have said I’d have made it a lot further in life if only I’d learned to “play the game” — pretend that black was white on occasions when I’ve found myself face to face with the former.
No thanks.
And in this regard, the following bit of dialogue from a wonderful 1989 episode of Columbo (where he’s about to nail the murderer) actually plays to my position through a rather entertaining bit of candor.
Post Script: Of course I am keenly aware of the irony here, that Lt Columbo himself is a poser who masterfully uses the persona of bumbling, absent-minded detective to bring down the bad guys.
